Pecoc visualizes the business spread of Health Centre to expand to other sports in the near future considering the growing foreign influences in social habits and also the growing foreign influences in social habits and also the growing cult of health/fitness among all. With India hosting the commonwealth games in 2010, a spurt in sports awareness in a much more defined manner can be expected across the country especially with the ongoing efforts to bid for the Asian Games get again and even the Olympics before 2020.
We see a huge opportunity in the sports business sector with several market forces expected to consolidate in ushering in the world wide concepts in sports sponsorships, leagues, infrastructures, media etc. more so in popular disciplines.
We believe that there is a need to build up a brand equity around a city specific sporting culture through creation of quality sports training infrastructure to create the ambience for sporting events as a medium of quality entertainment and not just a show case of technical skill and strength. From a business view point, we are working to set up a private sports infrastructure as a multi-sport facility ensuring adequate features for attracting all categories of people to their neighborhood play station.
In order to make the venture commercially, viable from day one, it is proposed to combine popular sports like Tennis, shuttle Badminton, swimming, Roller skating, Basket ball, Volly ball etc in the training facility as part of promoting a sports culture in the society.
The Board of Directors had already purchased 6.5 Acre of Land at Pooppalam near to perinthalmanna. The advantage of this plot is multifold in terms of accessibility, location, surroundings, land vale and family friendly approach.
Among the facilities proposed is a multi purpose indoor stadium with provision for around 25 bedded sports tour accommodation and a full-fledged fitness centre. It would also have a 25 meter swimming pool plus 4 multi discipline artificial surface. Tennis/Basketball courts with provision for temporary roofing, a skating rink, walkers path, children's park and a family lawn area from Reception centre. The project cost is estimated at Rs.500 lakhs and will be financed party through equity and the rest from debt.
On the fmancials, the over all project cost is Rs.lOcrores and the year 1 operational cost is project as Rs.2crors with a net profit of Rs. 5 lakhs in year 2 itself. The major sources of revenue would be the multi discipline training fees and rent. During the first phase of 3 years the centre would be run on a non-profit basis.
It is to be noted that there is no such multi - sports centre in the private sector in Kerala except may be the Rajeev Gandhi Regional coaching centre, Kochi which is also not a business venture.
Pecoc would be developing an integrated sports management approach through an annual sports calendar with the under mentioned events as promotional ventures. |
